Il Panino Italiano
What is the Panini?
Panini, boccadillo, kebab, ciabatta, toastie or sandwich. The "panini" is a popular Italian food which has fed the people of the whole world for many years.
Originally, it was born as food for the poor, a simple staple meal that provided energy and sustenance to get through the workday. But over time it has transitioned into a cultural favourite that can be customised in every way and has consequently become an extremely popular food. No longer considered a shortcut to preparing a quick lunch, today the panini sandwich has fast become a favoured street food and a gastronomic dish that incorporates high-quality delicious ingredients between two simple slices of bread.
The gourmet panini par excellence is, without a doubt, a truly Italian sandwich. Furthermore, the Italian panini has become so popular that it deserves a special cultural foundation to promote the culture of the Italian panini around the world:
The Italian Panino Academy.
The bread made with simple ingredients, such as flour and water, has over recent years transformed and refined into something special, and when filled becomes a gastronomic creation and social ritual. Not only does the panini consist of two slices of bread, but whatever you fill between them allows you to express yourself and that in itself speaks of our culture. To anyone, the word panini brings wonderful memories.
It has become one of the most iconic street foods in our country, so we want to inspire you with some gourmet suggestions, which you can prepare with our SWM60 panini maker which doubles as a waffle and toastie maker.
