3rd august - watermelon day
Watermelon Day was created as a special occasion to indulge in this tasty (and healthy!!) treat. It's a national holiday usually celebrated in the USA every year, however, we think this is a holiday we are more than happy to get on board with on this side of the pond too!
We don't know about you, but on a hot summers day, we do not need a reason to tuck into a nice juicy watermelon! It's refreshing, sweet taste makes you feel like your eating a dessert when really it's full of Vitamin A, C and potassium, plus its about 92% water so keeps you hydrated.

How to Make Watermelon Juice
Ingredients
- 1 large watermelon
- 1 lime (optional)
Method
1. Slice the watermelon in half. Using a big spoon, scoop chunks of the juicy watermelon into the blender. Discard the rind.
2. Blend the watermelon for about 30-60 seconds, until it is completely smooth. For an extra zing in your juice, squeeze the juice of the lime into the blender and blend for a few seconds to mix it in.
3. If your juice is pulpy or seeded, pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a jug. If however the juice is already smooth, you can serve it immediately by pouring it directly into glasses filled with ice.
If you want to save some for later, decant into a jug or pot with an airtight lid and store in the fridge for up to 4 days. The juice will naturally separate over time; if it does, simply stir it with a spoon before serving.
